Quick triage

Sometimes you need to look before you commit: is this the right drive, is there anything on it, which partition matters? Quick Triage, on the welcome screen, opens images straight away with no case behind them.

  • Browsing the file systems, every viewer, the hex view and the disk layout.
  • Opening encrypted volumes with a key, shadow copies, LVM and APFS volumes.
  • File carving – with the same engine and results panel as in a case. Carved files are kept as references for the session; copies are written only if you turn that setting on, into your user data folder.
  • Exporting files.

A quick triage keeps no case: no audit trail, no verification history, no bookmarks or notes that outlive the session, and the per-case settings stay at their defaults. When you close it, it is gone.
